O que significa lightgraff? É uma palavra formada pela contracção de "light" (luz) e "graff", abreviatura de graffiti, ou seja graffiti feito de luz. Trata-se de uma disciplina artística recente que combina e unifica a técnica da escrita caligráfica e da fotografia em actos únicos e irrepetíveis. O lightgraff é efémero e é isso que lhe confere beleza.
O lightgraff é puro e espontâneo: não há truques, não há margem para erros, não há tratamento digital posterior para correcção. O artista não vê o que faz. Sente-o, quando muito, pois poderia fazê-lo de olhos fechados. É arte ao vivo. Ao contrário do graffiti convencional não é intrusivo e não vandaliza. Não deixa marcas, apenas registos fotográficos. É imaterial e, ao mesmo tempo, tridimensional. O fotógrafo e o graffitter são as únicas testemunhas: um escreve, o outro regista.

Curisamente esta expressão visual foi iniciada por... Picasso. Recentemente tem vindo a ganhar um número crescente de adeptos e executantes, nomeadamente em França. Artistas como Rézine, Julien Breton (kaalam) e Brusk iluminam as noites de Paris e outras cidades francesas com pincéis de luz feitos de lâmpadas de néon, LEDs e ponteiros laser multicoloridos guiados por mãos precisas. Autodenominam-se "calígrafos". Vestem-se de negro para que as câmaras fotográficas, reguladas para um tempo de exposição longo, captem apenas as suas coreografias e ritmos. Muitas vezes estes espectáculos fugazes são acompanhados de um fundo musical que, infelizmente, não aparece nas fotografias.
É impossível ficar indiferente à beleza, significado e potencial desta expressão artística que reúne num instante fugaz um conteúdo tão intenso. Os calígrafos utilizam caracteres árabes e de outros alfabetos e combinam-os habilmente numa nova síntese. O graffiti convencional empalidece ao pé destes símbolos pujantes. Há muito tempo que a escrita não conhecia uma evolução tão importante.
